From the Vault…

“Men and women have been so conned by the ghastly notion of romance - chocolates, roses, diamond ring, live happily ever after. Come off it. If you’re married for ten years, sex changes.”

— Emma Thompson

(Woody Harrelson’s father, Charles, in 1968, having murdered a Texas businessman,  was sentenced to fifteen years in prison, released after five. In 1979, on parole,in a murder-for-hire, he shot and killed a Federal Judge, subsequently being given two life sentences). “One day, filming, this woman walks past and says,’Your father should’ve gotten the chair.’ My dad wasn’t around that much in my childhood, I was seven when he left. I didn’t know he was in prison, found out oddly enough over the radio. My mother had neglected to tell me. I visited him, he always said he was innocent. What he’s done certainly needs to be addressed, but if you sat down, rapped with him, he would really make you laugh. My Dad has done a lot of illegal things but only a handful can do what he does with a deck of cards, so why would he need to commit a crime like that, for money?”

— Woody Harrelson

“Am I afraid of dying? Yes. Death is the one fear I have. I had a heart attack. I saw there was no vision, there was no afterlife. I didn't see anybody, I didn't see any big glowing light. I didn’t thank God, because if god loved me why did he give me a heart attack? I know that this is it.”

— Larry King

“Men destroyed my self esteem.  It’s flushed away,  somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic right now. I’ve never been a woman who men helped.”

— Joan Rivers

“My gift is I’m not beautiful. My career has never been about looks; it’s about health, being in good shape. Basically, I’m a dancer,  a gypsy - a gypsy is a tough cookie.”

— Shirley MacLaine

I’m sure lots of people think I’m a bitch because I ask for what I want, no fear of speaking my mind. ‘Don’t want this, doesn’t work for me.’ Even if it means changing everything, I will.”

 — Demi Moore

“The rich are disloyal and they have better vegetables”

— Truman Capote

“Early on, I was victimized by my own bull shit, believing what other people said was true, certainly in my marriages. I was successful so I had to pay them.”

— Goldie Hawn

“My Dad didn’t realize he was leaving us. We said ‘You’re not leaving Mom, you’re leaving the whole family.’”

— Cindy Crawford
